Did Mr. Beast Buy the NFL? Viral YouTube Stunt Explained | E! News
Everybody, that is right. I officially own the NFL and I think it’s time for some changes. Don’t let the video fool you. Mr. Beast is not actually the new owner of the NFL. The YouTuber, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, raised eyebrows when he posted a video September 3rd titled, “I bought the NFL,” in which he and the organization’s commissioner, Roger Goodell, spoke at a press conference announcing the news. Everybody, that is right. I officially own the NFL and I think it’s time for some changes. So, for my very first change, we are going to be changing the rosters from 53 players to 54 and giving that new roster spot to a YouTuber. No, Jimmy, we can’t. The video then cuts to several YouTubers such as Haley Bailey, I show Speed, Dude Perfect, and Brooke Monk being drafted to various NFL teams and attending the squad’s training camps. You look good. Look good, feel good, play good. Let’s go. And while Roger was initially hesitant, he admits to being subscribed to Mr. Beast’s new pitch. After watching the influencers rise to the challenge, the businessman and content creator ultimately shares that he didn’t really buy the league. The video instead is just a campaign to promote YouTube gaining the rights to broadcast the upcoming NFL game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs on September 5th. For the first time ever, Chargers versus Chiefs will be live for free on YouTube. Make sure you watch it. It’s literally free. Why not? [Music]
