Howard Stern ‘can’t leave’ SiriusXM — Andy Cohen not taking over
This is not the voice that you probably wanted to hear, but it is I, Andy Cohen. I have to say, I fantasized for years about sitting in this chair. This is not how I thought this would go down. Is Andy Cohen taking over the Howard Stern show. H, not so fast. The Sirius XM stars hilariously trolled listeners in the Wii hours of Monday, September 8th, by making it seem like the king of Bravo was beginning a new reign as the face of Channel 100. In the staged bit, Andy called it a surreal morning and claimed that Sirius had parted ways with the 71-year-old Shockj. Gotcha. Howard eventually came on and confirmed the whole thing was a joke and that he’s returning to SiriusXM. It got a laugh from Howard’s wife, Beth. But the biggest losers, Bob Harper, was fooled, commenting, “OMG, I was freaking out. Thank God I’m hearing Howard and Robin. Everything you’ve been reading in the paper about me or about Robin is completely false.” What pisses me off is now I can’t leave. I was I’ve been thinking about retiring. Now I can’t because then they’ll say, “I got pushed out.” Howard assured fans he’s very happy at Sirius XM and claimed the retirement rumors were completely false despite a report from the Daily Mail alleging that it was actually a desperate hoax by Howard’s own team to boost ratings. Howard also claimed the fake news story had popped up this summer shortly after news broke that CBS had fired Steven Colbear because he was quote too woke. Howard famously endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in 2016 and was granted a rare sitdown with then VP Kla Harris during the 2024 race. Both Democratic candidates lost to Republican Donald Trump. As for the fate of Howard’s $500 million contract, that’s still up this fall and no details of a new deal have been reported. Although both the president and CEO of Sirius have stated they want their headline grabbing star to stay on.
He’s baaack! After retirement speculation swirled this summer, radio legend Howard Stern returned to the air today, but not before he savagely trolled fans — and successfully duped CNBC — with an Andy Cohen fake-out. Find out what the 71-year-old shock jock had to say about the “completely false” rumors that he’s being pushed out amid contract negotiations and what his SiriusXM bosses have said in this Page Six breakdown.
