Prince Harry is currently in the UK, and rumors are swirling that he will meet with his father, King Charles, sometime this week. However, a meeting with his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, hinges on her husband, Prince William’s approval.
Just yesterday, Kate made an unexpected joint appearance with William, leading some to speculate that they were trying to avoid Harry. To get some insight, we reached out to Pauline Maclaran, a royal author and Professor at Royal Holloway.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, Maclaran stated that given the strained relationship between the brothers, it’s unlikely that Kate would meet with Harry without William’s consent.
As for the theory that Kate intentionally made herself scarce when Harry arrived in the UK, Maclaran considers this a bit far-fetched. She said, “I think this is just speculation in the absence of much other information about whether Harry will meet his father or any other family members.”
Harry will be in the UK for four days, having arrived just yesterday. His first stop was Queen Elizabeth II’s burial site, which may have gotten Charles’s attention and appreciation for Harry’s putting family first.
The royal author said: “I’m sure he did genuinely want to visit his grandmother and commemorate the 3rd anniversary of her passing, but the visit also underscores his royal status and keeps him in the public eye as well as in front of family members.”
She further added: “It will certainly remind the King that Harry is here – although I doubt if he’ll have forgotten!”
