In the official statement announcing the appointment, Prince William and Kate Middleton said, ‘We are looking forward to welcoming Sarah to The Royal Foundation and to working with her on some of the issues which are closest to our hearts. We are hugely grateful to Amanda for her exceptional leadership over the past three years and are pleased she will continue to work with us in her new role as Global Partnerships Ambassador.’
For her part, Rose expressed equal excitement: ‘I am honoured to be joining The Royal Foundation and am excited by the ambition it has for the future. I’m incredibly proud to have spent 30 years in public service broadcasting and I now look forward to working with Their Royal Highnesses, and the team at the Foundation, to support the vital work they do to tackle some of society’s most urgent challenges.’
The announcement comes as Prince William and Kate Middleton resume engagements following their summer break. Over the weekend, the couple marked the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death with a surprise joint appearance. While William was scheduled to meet members of the Women’s Institute in Sunningdale, Catherine’s presence was unexpected, said to have been motivated by her personal desire to honour the late Queen.
During their visit, the couple met with women to learn how the organisation gives opportunities for women to socialise, learn new skills and engage in community projects. They also spoke with members about the importance of The Late Queen’s involvement in the organisation and met those who interacted and met with Her Late Majesty during her reign. Now, it appears that the future King and Queen will be following in Elizabeth II’s footsteps when they ascend the throne, championing their own charitable causes.
