Emmys Host Nate Bargatze Reveals Shocking Plan to Keep Speeches Brief | E! News

It could get wild. Comedian Nate Bargetti finds an interesting way to keep the Emmy Awards notoriously long speeches to a minimum. During a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live, the stand-up star, who’s hosting the awards ceremony for the first time on September 14th, explains his plan to incentivize Emmy winners to cut their speeches short this year. Everybody gets 45 seconds to do all the thank yous. I’m going to donate $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Club. That’s what the show’s starting at. Okay. If when everybody uses their 45 seconds, if someone goes over, we take away $1,000 a second every time they go over. So, I know it’s tough. However, he does note that the pot can get cash back if the winners can keep their speeches tight. If you go under, you we will put $1,000 back on. So, you can give it back. Wow. And in case you were wondering if this is all just a bit, Nate wants to clarify. I was thinking everybody would think this is a joke if we just took away, but this is uh it’s it’s it’s really going to do this for real. I swear. So, no. Yeah. This I even I I’m putting the money up. I didn’t want to like have it be cuz a the joke is funnier if it’s coming from me. I didn’t want it to like be like in the last minute like some company pays for all. Right. No. Straight up. this is what they’re getting, right? It’s up to that room how much they want to give them.
