What truly caught the eye of royal watchers, however, was Kate’s choice of necklace. Layered on top of her smart black top sat a gold Danielle Draper chain, bearing the initials of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. It is not the first time that Catherine has opted for this heartwarming piece, though it does seem to be a relatively new addition to her jewellery box.

The Princess of Wales wore the piece earlier this month, when she and Prince William toured the Natural History Museum’s newly renovated gardens on 4 September. Once again, Kate paired the necklace with a smart tweed jacket, adding a simple shirt and a pair of black tailored trousers. Back in April, during the trip to the Isle of Mull that coincided with her and Prince William’s wedding anniversary, the Princess wore her new staple with another tweed blazer and a smart blue shirt – as well as another Danielle Draper chain with a pendant engraved with her children’s initials.

If it sounds like a lot of suits, blazers and shirts, it could be a sign of Kate’s new style ethos. Perhaps it’s the result of the Princess of Wales replacing her stylist. Earlier this summer, it was announced that Natasha Archer, Kate Middleton’s long-time assistant, was to step down. Archer, who was promoted to senior private executive assistant to Prince William and Kate in 2022, reportedly left the Palace in July to set up her own private styling consultancy. Whilst the palace has never announced who would be replacing Natasha, many online speculated that Ginnie Chadwyck-Healey could be the woman for the job.
