Ego Nwodim is 5th ‘SNL’ cast member leaving amid Season 51 bloodbath
I’ll tell you what though, no matter what age, Miss Eggy go over easy. Okay, another one bites the dust. SNL 51 is losing its biggest star to date. Ego Wodm announced she’s leaving the show after seven seasons. Her stint at Saturday Night Live was marked by memorable skits. From impersonating Dion Warwick to her breakout character Lisa from Tmicula. Lisa even got host Pedro Pascal to break. On Weekend Update, her stand-up persona, Miss Eggy, accidentally got the studio audience to yell the sword, which was later edited out. Neither she nor NBC were reportedly fined by the FCC. But now, the 37-year-old comedian is out, and she shared the news on Instagram. The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say good night. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I’ve decided to leave SNL. I’m immensely grateful to Lauren for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories and that laughter with me always. Her exit comes a week after news broke that Heidi Gardner is also leaving after eight seasons, although not by choice. Her contract was not renewed, an insider exclusively told the Post. She’s not alone. These cast members were axed in the bloodbath. Devin Walker, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wim. While not an official cast member, John Higgins, one-third of the Please Don’t Destroy Digital Shorts team, also announced he’s departing the show. Martin Hurley is staying on as a writer, and Ben Marshall was bumped up to the cast. Ben is one of five new featured players announced along with Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Kolhane, Cam Patterson, and Veronica Sloakowska. As for who’s actually returning, Lauren Michaels confirmed that James Austin Johnson, who plays Trump, will definitely be back. Then last week at the Toronto International Film Festival, Colin Jo’s wife, Scarlett Johansson, confirmed to EW that he’s going back to work behind the weekend update desk. But anything can happen before the show goes live on Saturday, October 4th on NBC.
