Prince Harry’s strained relationship with the Royal Family has been a topic of public discussion for years.

Since stepping away from Royal duties and relocating to the United States, Harry and his wife, Meghan, have not shied away from making explosive claims about their family members and palace staff.

Their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey sent shockwaves around the world, and Harry’s bestselling memoir, Spare, has given the public an intimate look into the private lives of the Windsor family and the sometimes tumultuous relationships within it.

This week, when Harry’s car arrived at the gates of Clarence House, it marked his first encounter with his father, King Charles, in 19 months, following the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.

Speculation was rife that the father-son duo might reconcile during Harry’s visit, but recent revelations from Royal insiders suggest that the King is having issues with another son – and it’s not who you’d think.

The Prince has long been known to favor and emphasize high “impact” appearances, such as his climate crisis solution awards and his Homewards initiative targeting homelessness, rather than focusing on sheer numbers.

Both he and Princess Kate have made it abundantly clear that raising their children remains their top priority, with the future monarchs choosing to handle duties like school drop-offs personally whenever possible. Yet, Brown argued, this family-first approach has also sparked controversy.

“Somehow, William’s parenting dedication always seems couched as a tacit criticism of the king’s own paternal deficiencies”, she wrote.

The expert continued, “And after five confirmed family vacations in the past seven months, William’s first-week-back diary pulsated with two outings: a father-daughter excursion to a Women’s Rugby World Cup pool match and a stroll through the Natural History Museum’s new gardens. Charles, despite his battle with cancer, has carried out official engagements on 175 days during the past 12 months”.
