Why Daniel Day-Lewis Returned to Acting After Years-Long Hiatus | E! News

Daniel D. Lewis is opening up about his return to acting and why his initial retirement was what he calls grandiose gibberish. Back in 2017, Daniel’s spokeswoman Leslie Dart said in a statement to Variety, Daniel D. Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject. Speaking to Rolling Stone September 10th, the Hollywood legend says, “It just seems like such grandio gibberish to talk about. I never intended to retire really. I just stopped doing that particular type of work so I could do some other work. Apparently, I’ve been accused of retiring twice now. I never meant to retire from anything. I just wanted to work on something else for a while.” Daniel stars in the new movie Anemone directed by his son Ronan de Lewis. Speaking on the project itself, he adds, “As I get older, it just takes me longer and longer to find my way back to the place where the furnace is burning again. But working with Ro, that furnace just lit up. And it was from beginning to end just pure joy to spend that time together with him. [Music]

Eight years after Daniel Day-Lewis took a break from acting, the Phantom Thread star is returning to the screen, and reflected on the “sadness” amid his time away from Hollywood. Full Story: https://www.eonline.com/news/1422352/daniel-day-lewis-returns-to-acting-in-anemone
