The HBO hit series Hacks has been all the rage the last four years. The show surely got its flowers tonight, when both Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder ascended the Emmy Awards 2025 stage to accept golden statuettes for their performances. In addition to earning a well-deserved win, Einbinder’s moment is making headlines because it was accompanied by a bleeped-out speech.

“Thank you, wow. I really, sorry. I was just really committed to the personal narrative that I had that it’s actually cooler to continue to lose. I was pretty committed to that. Had to be right. But this is cool too. This is also a punk rock,” Einbinder said while accepting the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
The 30-year-old actress expressed her gratitude to a list of names for “changing my life in every conceivable way. but not just by giving me a great gig, but by being my friends and being my family.”

She continued, saying, “I want to thank Jean Smart, who is like the sun, and I just to stand in her warmth. And I also want to thank the cast and crew of Hacks, and I’ll pay the difference. Sorry. Finally, I just want to say, I just want to say.”
Her conclusion is where the bleeping started. “I just want to say go birds, fuck ICE, and free Palestine. Thank you,” Einbinder finished, with a bleep over the expletive.

Einbinder was also nominated in the category in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Though, this is the first time she has taken the award home.
The drama series is also up for Best Comedy Series and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series with both Robby Hoffman and Julianne Nicholson.
