According to a press release, Jaden — who is the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith — will “oversee the creation of four collections annually across men’s shoes, leather goods, and accessories,” in addition to helping develop the brand’s visual and emotional identity across marketing campaigns, corresponding events and experiences.

The partnership comes amid Jaden and Louboutin’s six-year friendship, which stemmed from a chance encounter in Paris, during which they discussed their shared artistic vision. The appointment also arrived amid a string of notable outfits from the young star, ranging from a castle hat at the Grammy Awards to using his cut-off locs as an accessory at the 2017 Met Gala.

The designer added, “I felt that with his creative direction our men’s collection would evolve in an exciting and dynamic way. He feels like the perfect addition to our creative team, and I am truly looking forward to having fun working with him on our men’s collections.”

Jaden expressed his excitement at stepping into the role, noting that his and Louboutin’s partnership feels like a natural fit for their evolution.

“Merging my vision with Christian’s comes quite naturally because we see the world in a very similar way. There’s a shared respect for creative freedom, and I think that’s why it works. I want to continue the story, honoring the past while shaping the future through my own perspective,” he said in the release.
