Writing in The Sun, royal expert and author Robert Jobson said that Princess Kate and First Lady Melania Trump were adding “real sparkle” to the state visit at Windsor on Thursday as they enjoyed a joint engagement with the Scouts when Meghan’s post began to get attention online.
He wrote: “Just as Kate and Melania were stealing the show, she (Meghan) was in Montecito, posting about her “magical” strawberry patch.
“The timing? Predictable. Needy. While Kate was making soft diplomacy look effortless, Meghan was whispering to her followers about berries.
“The irony is obvious. Meghan could have been the American duchess dazzling at Windsor, an asset alongside Harry. Instead, she’s busy flogging £22 jars of honey, complete with instructions about keeping a ‘bee voice’ low in the hive. Kate, meanwhile, is handing the real thing to children, no hashtags required.”
