Prince Andrew and his former wife Sarah Ferguson turned heads when they made a surprise appearance at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral this week.
The disgraced Duke accompanied senior royals as they paid their respects to Katharine, who passed away earlier this month aged 92.
After the moving ceremony at Westminster Abbey, Andrew was spotted appearing to chuckle and grin whilst fellow members of the monarchy looked solemn, as detailed in the Mirror.
The behaviour is reported to have particularly bothered William, Prince of Wales, who has allegedly been keen to avoid being snapped alongside his uncle recently.
Royal biographer Andrew Lownie revealed: “William, meanwhile, was ‘furious’ at being ambushed in this way, according to friends.

“He has been at pains to distance himself from his uncle and not be photographed with him. He believes his father has not dealt with him with sufficient firmness and that Andrew – and Sarah Ferguson – have done much to undermine the good work of other members of the Royal Family.”
William has maintained a strained relationship with his father’s brother for years. The tension is believed to have escalated following ‘offensive’ remarks Andrew supposedly made about Princess Kate, as detailed in a bombshell biography.
The book, The Rise and Fall of the Yorks, makes a series of allegations about the Duke and Duchess of York’s “hedonistic life, controversial friendships and secretive money-making endeavours”, while also making claims about tensions within the Royal Family.
A source who spoke to the biography’s author Andrew Lownie claimed that there has been friction between William and Andrew for years, which first started when the disgraced Duke’s actions started to tarnish the public’s view of the monarchy.
The source alleged that Andrew had been “rude” about Kate, but did not specify what comments had been made about the Princess of Wales.
The book also suggests that William has been trying for years to have Prince Andrew, along with his ex-wife Sarah, evicted from the Royal Lodge, the 30-room mansion the couple currently occupy on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
According to the unnamed source, William believes that Andrew is not maintaining the property as it has fallen into a state of disrepair over the last year.
The source is quoted in the explosive book, saying: “He [William] also loathes Sarah, Andrew’s ex-wife, and can’t wait for the day when his father throws them both out. If Charles doesn’t, I guarantee you the first thing William does when he eventually becomes king is to get them evicted.”
Reports also suggest that the Prince of Wales played a key role in Prince Andrew’s exile from royal life, following his disastrous 2019 Newsnight interview which laid bare his relationship with the late billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
