A new song from Miley Cyrus dedicated to dad Billy Ray as the two seemingly men a years’sl long rift. Miley’s vocals vibrating across the emotional ballad Secrets released September 19th. This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time, but always loved. In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same. And days after dad celebrated turning 64 years old, Billy Ray told Miley on the gram, “Best birthday gift a dad could ever ask for. This comes after Miley detailed her inspiration in June on Monica Lewinsk’s Reclaiming Podcast. I wrote this song about my dad because I wanted him to tell me, even though they were secrets, even though I didn’t really want to know, I wanted to be the one. He felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family. But I wanted him to think that as a middle child, I’m old enough that I could take some of that. [Music]
