Prince Harry and Prince William could mend their strained relationship soon, according to a close friend of the Duke of Sussex.
The royal brothers have been at odds since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals and aired their grievances with the royal family in a 2020 bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. However, Harry’s longtime friend Alex Rayner, who accompanied him on a charity trek to the North Pole in 2012, told the Daily Mail’s Eden Confidential column, “As soon as the opportunity presents itself, we’ll see a wonderful embrace between the two brothers. Absolutely.”
He added, “I would hope [it will take place in the next few months]. Certainly, if not by the end of the year, then next. They’ll hug in the not-too-distant future.”

During a recent solo trip to the UK, Harry had an hour-long meeting with his father, King Charles, without Meghan or their children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet. Despite tensions between Harry and Charles, particularly following the release of Harry’s tell-all book Spare in 2023, Alex maintains that their bond is “indestructible.”

He stated, “A rift between father and son is never that big. A father’s love for his son is pretty indestructible.” After his meeting with his father, Harry, who now lives in California with his family, expressed his desire to spend more time in Britain following a successful trip.
Speaking to The Guardian while in Ukraine, he shared, “Yes, I have enjoyed the week. I have always loved the UK and I always will love the UK. “It’s been good to reconnect with the causes I am passionate about. I have been able to spend some time with people that I have known for so long. It is hard to do it from far away.”
Harry also spoke about his memoir, Spare, and his Netflix projects alongside Meghan, saying these were efforts for them to rectify “one point of view.” The prince, who turned 41 this month, said, “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.
“I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative. The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.”
Harry traveled to Kyiv to support the efforts of his Invictus Games Foundation (IGF), honoring the resilience and recovery of thousands of veterans who have sustained life-altering injuries since the conflict with Russia began three years ago. Yet, the father of two acknowledges that his visit was a risk, and he confessed his aversion to taking part in contrived photo ops. This trip – along with recent interactions with his father – prompted Harry to introspect, he revealed.
