‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ season 3 episode 11 finale recap with Abbi and Tina | Viral Deep Dive
Guys, I had a thought this morning getting ready. What was your thought? I had a thought. What? Wouldn’t it be crazy if there was a wedding and like Wonk catered it? Why not, Conrad? I choose you. [Music] Oh my god. Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has had fans screaming, crying, and choosing sides. But no one breaks it down better than Abby Denzo and her mom, Tina. Their weekly reactions have racked up millions of views, fan edits, and even comments from the official Summer I Turnprett account. I sat down with them to talk about their meteoric rise, their thoughts on the finale, and why Tina has proudly planted her flag on Team Conrad Island. This is a viral deep dive into Abby and Tina. As people know, y’all have been recapping The Summer Turn Pretty all season long. When did you first realize your reactions were starting to blow up? Well, we’ve actually been doing this for a while. We started doing it in season 2. I just feel like this past season they’ve reached like a whole another level. Like we have a whole community of people now that are like Tina Nation. Like it’s like become a whole thing. last time I didn’t feel like it got to the level that it did. So, I don’t know. I I feel like honestly like from the jump like right when it started like episode one, from here on out it’s just been like this progressive like climb. Like each episode I feel like people are like more excited for each time. So, it’s been like crazy to watch it grow like from the start. It’s just been very surreal. I just I find it really funny that anybody cares that much about what I have to say, but I mean it’s been fun. It’s been a ride. It’s been fun to experience it with her. I mean, it it’s been great. It really has. Obviously, the finale is out there. It is wrapped. You guys have released a 19-minute masterpiece. So, people definitely need to go watch that for the full live unfiltered reaction. But having y’all here, I want to show you some of the highlights. I mean, this was a packed episode and there was a lot happening. So, I would love to show you just a couple moments and just get your feedback on it. Like, what what did you Absolutely. So, first we start the episode with Belly revealing her brand new haircut. She gets off her scooter. She is, you know, we Tina, you predicted, did Conrad go straight to the apartment? Yes, he did. Um, to the apartment right there. What What were our thoughts on the haircut? What were our thoughts on, you know, the initial moment? The haircut is a 10. Everything. Everything. 10 plus. Cuz I’m seeing like some people saying that they didn’t like it and I think that she looks amazing. Incredible. I thought it was 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10. Loved it. Loved it. There was no like walked out and I gasped. I was like, “Oh my god, she’s a full-blown woman now.” Like we just I mean it was perfection. Perfection. So after the kids are done playing, you know, tour guide throughout the streets of Paris, she invites Conrad to her birthday dinner and, you know, she gets to meet her or he gets to meet her friends. We get a little interaction with Bonito. Uh Conrad mentions that he may have taught her how to ride a scooter, but she taught him how to ride or he taught her how to ride a bike. What do we What did we think? What do we think about the birthday the birthday dinner scene? Oh my god. The birthday dinner was great. Benny. Um, you know, Benny kind of pissed me off a few times. He was asking way too many questions. I I didn’t know where he was going with all that. I was like, Benny needs to chill. You clocked it, though, that they were broke up. Yeah, I did. I did. It was a hug. The hug. I was on the fence and when they saw each other at the restaurant and hugged, I was like, “Oh, that’s a friend hug. That’s a friend. That’s a friend hug. That’s not a boyfriend hug. That’s a friend hug. That’s a friend hug.” He Yeah. The sand. I mean, the dinner. I loved his interaction with her friends. I did. So cute. But like the whole Benny like, “Well, why are you here? Brussels isn’t that clo. Relax. Relax, Benny. Relax.” And obviously we got to wrap up a couple other loose strings, a couple other storylines. One being Taylor and Steven. We find out Steven and Denise are moving to SF. Taylor is a little upset. She finds out, you know, second after Steven. Yeah. you know, and she she ends up, you know, after they had their little argument. She realizes she is not going to move for him, but she’ll move with him and she’s going to be a PR baddy in SF. What do we think about these two? I loved I loved the final scene. I loved the I loved the wrap up of these two characters. I did. I really loved it. I am excited to like hopefully see more on them. I agree. Not to not to jump ahead here to movie territory, but I am excited to see a little more of their storyline because we’ve like kind of wrapped it up like quickly, but I was I was really happy with like their ending. I think they’re so freaking cute together. They are. They are. I And I She went at him pretty good and I was like, she let him have it. She let him have it. Rightfully so. Rightfully so. He He He kind of earned that one. He should have absolutely told her, but I liked how she went in at him. I thought it was great and I loved I think that those two had great character development the entire season. They have great chemistry to be honest. They really do. Um yeah, I loved I loved it. I would love to see more. I would love to see more of the two of them. Those two don’t bother me at all. Well, speaking of someone who might bother you, we got to talk about Jerowanka. He’s in his he’s auditioning for like the Bear season 4. He’s in his chef era. You know, we we see, you know, he’s he’s really stressed this episode. He’s like really like like unwell, you know? He’s prepping this big dinner, you know? I mean, went from I mean, we went from chopping veggies to marinating a lamb to having watermelon. We went to stuck in oysters. I mean, we had we he did it all. I mean, he made, you know, he made his like miniature cacao cakes and the and the ramicans. I mean, he just he touched on every single. I will say though, not at all defensing chair, but he didn’t bother me as much this episode. Oh, he did me. Did Yeah, absolutely. I mean, there was one moment that I kind of thought he looked a little hot. I was like, “Oh, why does Jer look kind of hot here?” Oh, yeah. This like we just needed to wrap this up. Like, it was like, “Okay, we had much more important things to focus on in this last episode be besides the Jar and the Denise Russo NBA.” Denise Russo. Yeah, we had much more important things to do. I was just like, “Okay, okay, let’s just go. Let’s go.” I Okay. Did like the interaction with him and his dad because the dad doesn’t sit well with me. Um I did like that interaction. I think Jared deserved that moment from his father. He did. So that I like that Wonk deserved it. Yes, it did. But one for Wonk. Do we think Wonk is going west? Do you think he’s going to follow his friends and Denise? I don’t I I think that Wonk and Denise are are gonna stick it out again. Really? You don’t? No. Well, back to more important things. Belly and Conrad. So, obviously, we get this scene which is going to go down in history specifically because of Taylor Swift dress. And five words that we are going to inscribe in history as well. Emmy, I dream about this. You You Emmy. Emmy. Where is it? All I got. Everybody gets an Emmy. That’s all I got. I have full body chills. Full body chills. When I tell you nothing could have prepared me for that entire sequence of events. I was like expecting and hoping and praying for a make out, a kiss, a kiss, you know, like I was trying to keep my expectations low cuz I just wanted them endgame in any capacity that I was going to get it. So when we were hit with that, nothing could have prepared me for the back of that taxi. Well, it was funny cuz when it started, I go, “Wow, we went from zero to 100 like real quick.” And then by the end I was like I mean we millions like we just we went there. We went there hard. I It was so funny because I actually hadn’t seen the reaction video edited until you just posted it and I was laughing and I thought when I said, “Oh, I can’t watch this. These are like watching my children.” And then I go, “Wait, go back.” I was I was like, “Wow.” I I was all over the place. Just so overwhelmed. I was over I was like, “Stop. Can’t watch. No, go back. I want to watch again.” Like geez. cuz I was everywhere on that. No, it was so like you said 0 to 100 and then we went back to zero because immediately Belly’s like, “Oh, we only love each other because of Susanna and he said he’s, you know, he’s tried to stop loving her but he never can.” This is crazy. I know. I I thought for that second I’m like, “Oh, here we go. It’s going to be I choose me. I can’t.” And I thought, “Oh, you got I do think that maybe like that was like good clarity on Belly’s end to kind of know that like she’s been having like those thoughts the whole time of like Yeah. You know, she’s she’s been like kind of thinking that Conrad maybe only loved her because that’s what his brother wanted. So, I think that she kind of needed that clarity from him. So, you know, hey, it all ended okay. If that’s What else could the boy have done? What else could he have done? laid it all out there and laid it all out. You know, she gets a photo of herself at a kid as a kid and she remembers she has to follow her heart and that she will always love Conrad Fischer. So, she races through Paris to find him. She reveals she actually got on she got on the train. I thought she made it. Could you imagine? She got to the station and the train’s like gone and it’s just like she got on the train. I thought that she was just going to catch him like at the station. That’s what I thought. like in the terminal getting ready to like get on the train. She’s got on the train as she should. They’re frolicking in Brussels together. Like they are fully, you know, frolicking in Brussels and we don’t know. We don’t know what’s happening. She took him to his Yeah. She took him to his welcome his welcome uh little brunch or whatever for his school. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean, the monologue was amazing. You know, the reveal of the infinity necklace. We see they go back to cousins. She had it on. She turned it around. When she turned around that infinity necklace, oh my god, I lost it. I was in hysterics every time. I’ve watched it like four times at this point. And every time I’m like, it was that final scene when she Yeah. On the train, that final scene. I think that, you know, I held it together pretty well until then. We’ve seen we’ve we know his heart. We have seen him confess to her his love how many times now? So, I think finally seeing that reciprocation from her is what like was the knife in the heart. Like, oh my gosh, so good. It was good. It was great. And then Cherry on Top, they returned to Cousins. Were you Were you happy with this ending? That beautiful yellow dress. I mean, here’s the thing. I was I I was happy because we had the endgame. We had the endgame that we deserved, that we wanted. I was a little curious. I was like, “Okay, what about the family? Like, they’re going back to an empty house.” like, you know what I mean? Like, what’s going on? So then when we were hit when we were hit with that note from Jenny when she hit us with that note that that’s how I knew maybe we’ll meet again in cousins. Oh, I mean that that that wrapped it up for me perfectly. And then what you kind of but you kind of you were a little hesitant because I was dead the minute I read Well, I cuz I do believe that Jenny wrote me the letter, you know. I I was like, “Oh, wait. Abby saw it. Jenny wrote me a letter and um she’s like, “Yeah, mom. it’s for you. I said, “Absolutely it is.” In my mind, it is. And when I read it, I said, “Oh, there’s there’s more.” And she was like, “I don’t know.” I’m like, “There’s more.” I don’t I didn’t know how. I wasn’t sure. The movie threw me through me. I was thinking more as okay, maybe there’s another book. Maybe they’re going to do another season. I at that point, I was not sure, but I definitely felt like there was it was left correct. Then my mind starts going. I’m like, well, there’s a lot of like kind of un wrap. We didn’t wrap up something. Oh, yeah. We have the letter. The letter that Susanna wrote, Belly. I’m like, where’s that was such an important part? I’m like, where’s that part of it we don’t have? And the more I thought about it, I’m like, she didn’t even see her family. She didn’t reunite with her mother, her father. Like, none of that. So, I’m hoping that that’s what we’re going to get going into a movie. I was going to say they dropped that iconic photo. There it is. I mean, it’s like what are the hopes? I mean, Jenny has said there’s another big milestone left in Belly’s journey. Conrad wedding. Wedding. Absolutely. It’s Conrad wedding time, guys. It’s time. It is time for the wedding. It’s time for a real wedding. Time for the wedding. Not what we had going here. We’re It’s time for a real wedding. Real wedding. It’s happening. Gosh. Imagine Kelly Connie wedding. We’re not done. We’re not over. We’ll always have summer and we’re always going to have Abby and Tina. We always will because y’all are going to keep making content.
