Speaking with journalist Viki Lalwani, Kakar says what set Priyanka apart was her tenacity. She is very ambitious. She never made a comment. She just held her ground, hinting at how serious that relationship might have been. Kakar added, “If it was privileged, she would have laughed, but it was very personal to her. She didn’t want it talked about. While the person’s name was edited out, it was widely rumored in mid 2000s that she was linked to Shah Rukh Khan. Kakar also pointed out the challenges Priyanka faced. He said she had bad skin, was considered too dark and was a strong big boned girl, not the delicate image Bollywood usually preferred. But with sheer hard work, especially during the sana, she transformed herself. In his words, she looked like a million dollars. He described her as a doll to work with, ambitious, single-minded and focused. Qualities that according to him pushed her ahead of the competition. Priyanka was the first Indian actress to take the leap into Hollywood. restarting her career from scratch. She built a global brand, something no other heroine had dared to attempt before. Priyanka herself has spoken about why she left Bollywood. On a podcast, she admitted she was being pushed into a corner, unccast, isolated, and drained by industry politics. She said, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry. I had people not casting me. I had beef with people. I’m not good at playing that game. So, I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break. That break became her big Hollywood breakthrough. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s close associate producer Vive Vaswani has previously defended the superstar against the longstanding rumors. He said SRK has always been a onewoman man dismissing Priyanka link up as nothing more than speculation. Neither Priyanka nor Shah Rukh Khan have ever publicly addressed these rumors although they’ve made rare comments about each other over the years.
