      Good. I was so worried my own country (UK) would bow to pressure from the US and the right wing press here. It’s obviously not a huge step but it IS a step and I’ll take it.

      All this talk about Canada recognizing them was conditional on surrender and the PA getting full power so we will see if this even means anything for us

      The main immediate benefit of this recognition will be to stand in the way of annexation of the West Bank. But we are in an era where international law has become almost completely meaningless. Aslong as the west keeps sending weapons to Israel, this is just political theater.

      They dragged their feet as long as they could. Now that Israel is speedrunning final stages of genocide, these “good” countries are shifting gears to gaslight the public/history about their very obvious assistance in the mass murder/genocide of Palestinians. It won’t work. They need to stop arming Israel and place crippling sanctions on everything

      edit: and they need to focus on curbing Israel’s actions in the region at large. How many countries is Israel bombing now? Lebanaon, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Qatar. Shows how stupid Western countries are to think this is necessary for “peace”

      This only matters insofar as it is making zionists very angry which is definitely a good thing but all these countries continue to arm and provide cover for a genocidal state which in its officials own words is actively working against destroying any possibility of a Palestinian state.

      Might as well recognize the State of Narnia for all the good it’ll do if you’re not willing to impose a real and practical cost on Israel
