Kamala Harris says in her new book that Gavin Newsom never called her back when she reached out to him for an endorsement after Biden dropped out: “Quoting from her notes that day, she writes of trying to reach Newsom: ‘Hiking. Will call back’ and then adds: ‘(He never did.)'”

And people are acting like he’s going to save us… vote blue no matter who doesn’t work because some Dems are not even blue anymore, they’re just light red.

Kamala acting like she would’ve done everything to help Newsom without any quid pro quo. This is just hawk on hawk violence. Ignore.

She’s really gonna blame everyone except a) herself and b) the people who voted for a rapist, fascist, etc

Look I wanted her to win obviously, but has she taken any accountability for running a bad campaign? Pandering to Republicans, alienating leftists who are just expected to fall in line despite being ignored, saying she’d do the same as Biden and her stance on Gaza?

      Has she endorsed Zohran Mamdani?

    5. Ah yes, because ANOTHER endorsement from a milquetoast freak was definitely the difference maker. I don’t think she actually believes it would’ve made that much of a difference, but the fact we’re litigating any of this just feels like a waste of breath.

    6. Gavin’s gonna Gavin. I think his personal math was probably that she would not win and he did not want to be overly associated. This book is not sitting well with me because it seems like the wrong time to air internecine warfare. ETA FACT CHECK

GAVIN ENDORSED HER ON X IMMEDIATELY:

and he did support her campaign and stood by his word not to run against her. I am not a huge fan but it seems like this particular criticism is not accurate

Kamala girl, i voted for now and now i need you yo shut the fuck up with excuses. We get it.

Instead, use any political good will you may still have to fucking save this place.

    9. I’m sure they’ve always been in-state rivals, but they’re two neoliberals in a pod.

I’d have said that Newsom wanted to create space to run in 2028, but right after Trump got inaugurated, Newsom was doing his best to prevent there from being a 2028, by having Steve “Palpatine” Bannon on his podcast.

And of course, he also had Charlie Kirk, for good measure. If he’d lived, he’d definitely keep working toward the theocracy he’d feel most at home in.

I feel like we’re going to end up with a repeat of Kamala if the Dems try to make Newsom their guy in 2028. This is the guy who said after CK died that we should “continue his work.” If the Dems think they’re going to win with a middle-of-the-road corporate stooge who won’t even make an effort to clearly distance himself from the right, then we’re fucked.

I voted for her like a good left soldier but this book and the shit that she’s bringing out makes me dislike her even more. It makes her look petty. Very disappointed Kamala.

    12. She has a massive platform still and could use it to rally people and actually do something tangible to help but instead she’s throwing everyone under the bus and taking no responsibility, it’s so wild! And people will STILL insist that it was lefties (a lot of whom still voted for her) who caused her to lose and not the Democrats lack of accountability and inability to change. Absolutely ridiculous.

    13. SideEyeFeminism on

It’s wild of her to even bring this up considering he DID endorse her incredibly quickly, and he did it while also being the most likely to benefit if Pelosi and Schumer had pushed back legally on Biden anointing a successor instead of agreeing to an open convention the way the party leadership allegedly wanted. Kamala Harris was never going to get the nom via traditional means. She’s too conservative for the progressives and is not someone the conservative Dems can get over their prejudices for. And this book has cemented something I suspected since those incidents with the pro-Palestine protestors: she’s a bit thin skinned.
