Angelina Jolie admits she doesn’t ‘recognize’ the US while advocating for free speech at 2025 SSIFF
The US is going through a concerning period of time due to the freedom of expression. In the US, you’re you’re a free woman who has raised your voice in favor of many causes. What are you afraid of at this present moment as an artist and as an American in regards to the US? I I don’t it’s very obviously a very difficult question only to say that I I love my country and um but I don’t at this time recognize my country and I think that’s uh but I Um, I I’ve always lived internationally. I’ve always my my family’s international. My my friends, my life, my world view is equal, united, international. So anything anywhere um that divides or um of course uh limits um personal expressions and freedoms and um from anyone I think is um very dangerous and um I think these are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. So, I’ll be careful during a press conference, but to say that, of course, like all of you and everyone watching, I’m, you know, these are very, very heavy times we’re all living in together.
Angelina Jolie candidly discussed the political climate of the United States while promoting her new movie, “Couture,” at the 2025 San Sebastián International Film Festival.
“I have to say that I love my country and I don’t, at this time, recognize my country,” the actress told reporters at a press conference on Sunday, per the Hollywood Reporter.
“I’ve always lived internationally. My family is international,” she said, referring to her and her ex-husband Brad Pitt’s adopted children from Namibia, Vietnam, Ethiopia and Cambodia.

She is disgusting. Never uttered a peep about the stolen election, about censorship on social media, about forced lockdowns and vaccines or fake news media violebt rhetoric. They are all soulless.
