No apology. Good defense of free speech. 👍 👍👍
I didn’t blame him for setting the record straight that he hadn’t mocked the murder itself. Jimmy’s a compassionate human. People on the left are empathetic. I kind of wish he’d been angry about how his words were twisted. Something like, “only an idiot would think I said that or someone trying to score political points twisted it,” but he was emotional and that’s ok too.
And he’s Catholic so getting choked up about the widow “forgiving” is something that would touch him and maybe he’s trying to appeal to xtians’ better angels here (altho I think the widow saying that is a presumption of guilt instead of innocent till proven guilty).
All in all I’m very happy to have Kimmel back. The second part of the monologue is back to his usual mocking T and I’m glad he did an extra long monologue to accommodate both the free speech attack and his jokes.
Oh and Sarah McLachlan sings later after standing with Jimmy over the weekend. Can’t wait to see her.

The Tylenol bit had a weird effect on me, like when I was hungry after seeing Supersize me – I want to take some Tylenol!

I loved it all except the Erika Kirk bit. That didn’t sit right with me.Â

I don’t really watch Kimmel, but this is a great monologue. Welcome back, Jimmy.

I appreciate that he didn’t hide his anxiety or emotions. It must have been scary as hell being in such a high profile situation. He is in a place of privilege far more than people being taken by ICE or subjected to decaying workplace violations and those losing healthcare (which he acknowledges) BUT…being in a high profile situation pitted against the president and an administrative of absolutely unhinged sycophants puts a target on him. He is sad, he is freaked out, he is pissed. Good on him for letting that show.

There’s a part of me that wishes he would have told ABC to fuck off. But it is also so important to use your platform if you have one, especially with whatever the fuck is happening to America right now.
