She was Jimmy Kimmel’s first musical guest back after his controversial week-long suspension by ABC parent company Disney and following her free speech protest in solidarity with the late night host. On Sunday night, Sarah and fellow singer Juel attended the Los Angeles premiere of the ABC News Doc, Lilair, Building a Mystery, now streaming on Hulu. She introduced the film, but then told the crowd that the singers collectively decided not to perform. The stark contraction to the many advances we have made, watching the insidious erosion of women’s rights, of trans and queer rights, the muzzling of free speech.
