Adele reportedly in talks for Super Bowl halftime as rumors swirl about Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus

Super Bowl 60 is coming up in February 2026 and any day now we’ll find out who is performing in the halftime show. Here with more is our senior reporter Mara Seagler. So we’ve got some speculation. Some names are being thrown out. So my sources I had two sources that are close to people high up in the NFL and they had told me that they are hearing it’s going to be Adele. Yes. What I had heard is she is in the running for this. Now, no one has signed a contract yet that I am aware of. But just because, you know, I have been told by by a source close to her, you know, she she is not, you know, she’s not signed anything, that does not, however, mean that she isn’t in talks for it. Now, there’s like a lot of um rumors or some other names. Miley Cyrus, who just came out with new music, Taylor Swift, of course, which is, you know, the Travis Kelce connection. Sure. My sources had said Adele is is up there. And Adele is of course a football fan. She’s been at the Super Bowl in the past. She attended the year Rihanna did the halftime show. Yes. And she is not a a football fan. She said, you know, she likes to cuss. She doesn’t give a flying leap about football, but she liked Rihanna, so she went to watch the halftime show. And her boyfriend is a a super sports agent, right? Which makes sense because he does have, you know, he I think he’s an agent for LeBron James, which is of course basketball. But I think he also has some football players. So, he’s definitely very big and very well connected within the sports world. And of course, online there’s a lot of chatter about would Adele be a good uh Super Bowl performer. She doesn’t She’s admitted she might not be a great Super Bowl performer in the past. She doesn’t dance. She was asked in 2017, she told a Los Angeles crowd at one of her concerts, “First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl. I mean, the show, that show is not about music. I can’t dance or anything like that.” They were very kind. They did ask me, but I did say no. Which weirdly at the time, and this is how like close to the vest they keep. So the Super Bowl is, you know, it’s the NFL, but it’s also Rock Nation helps pick the person. And they’ve really hold this like tight to the chest. So even with Adele saying, hey, herself like, “Hey, I have been asked.” They and it was NFL and sponsor Pepsi denied the claim at the time commenting, “We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show. However, we had not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. This is like the CIA. They’re being very tight lipped about this. I mean, it’s very lawyerly and the the wording is incredibly important, but um we there’s speculation Adele is coming out with a new album that it could be more of like a poppy d like upbeat album as compared to some of her last ones. Um Jimmy Fallon had mentioned um our report on his show last night and there were some people speculating on Twitter and there were some articles and somebody had mentioned in one of those you know um Benson Boon I guess is like somehow uh like I don’t a song or maybe they’re friends or something. I Yeah, Benson Boon recently went viral for covering an Adele song. I mean you could get Benson Boon up there with her backflip off of her piano. Well, I mean, it would be I I think anybody that they pick, whether it’s Taylor, Miley, Adele, or somebody else. I mean, the halftime show is always pretty good. Absolutely. And Taylor in October next month in just a few days, has a new album coming out. Her 12th studio album. She has another one. No, I mean, when does this woman have time? I mean, she’s like getting engaged. Where did she put it all in? She has The Life of a Showgirl. Miley has a new album out. All these pop, you know, superstars have reasons to be promoting their music at the Super Bowl. Um, and you know, it’s the reason I tune in. You I’m like Adele. I don’t give a flying f about football, but I’m there for Rihanna. Rihanna Bowl. Yes. Yes. Exactly. And there was also a a viral tweet that showed a close-up of a of two mouths from Apple Music, and people were speculating that the teeth looked like Miley Cyrus’s teeth. People are getting in the weeds on this. Well, it will be announced soon. So, I have been told it was going to be last Sunday. I’m now hearing I think you said that you had heard this Sunday. It’s coming any moment. They announced Kendrick last year around this time. They tend to announce it, you know, near the end of September. So, we, you know, we can all speculate and wait with baited breath and then hopefully it’s coming any second to answer. Exactly. And obviously the NFL’s first choice would probably be Taylor Swift, but it would be weird if she were performing and the Chiefs were not in the Super Bowl, but you can’t predict that. Or they’re like losing and Travis is upset and he’s getting fined for whatever and she’s out there, you know, um stealing the show. I know. Well, I can’t wait to find out uh who’s going to be performing because it’ll give me something to look forward to for February. Same. Thanks, Mara.
