Pete Davidson Reveals Heartbreaking Moment That Inspired His Sobriety | E! News

My biggest fear is that I will turn on the news and see that my son has died. Pete Davidson sharing what inspired him to get sober. The comedian admitting on a September 23rd episode of Theo Vaughn’s This Past Weekend podcast that it took his mom’s brutal honesty that encouraged him to clean up his act for good. And she’s been the most supportive ever. And uh it got to a point where she she called me uh when I was uh when I was in rehab and she was like, “My biggest fear is that I will turn on the news and see that my son has died.” The SNL alum, who has been sober for more than a year, revealing that he doesn’t want to be the source of any more heartbreak for his mom, who lost her husband, Pete’s father, Scott Davidson, in the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Oh, and she’s never been like that like, you know, cuz she’s so supportive and just, you know, wants to always have positivity around. Yeah. And she already lost something she loved that. Exactly. And that that killed me. Oh, yeah. So, like I was like, “All right.” You know, can’t die until she’s dead, at least. Yeah. All right, Amy. Yeah. Pete sharing how grateful he is to be in a good place as he prepares to welcome his first baby with girlfriend model Elsie Hewitt. Thank God that I’m sober and where I am. I wish I had more time. I don’t think anybody’s ever like I’m ready. I I don’t I wouldn’t know. But um I wish I had more time of sobriety. Uh cuz it’s only been like a year and change. Um but I’m very grateful that it happened now and with the person uh with Elsie. [Music]
