Robert Irwin calls ‘Dancing with the Stars’ experience ’10 years in the making’
Hi, Robert. Hello. Or should I call you Mr. Bonds? Mr. Bonds. I’ve seen the commercial today, too. Really? Well, that’s your new name then because I’ve seen this commercial and I love it. I mean, hello, Hollywood. What a star. I love it. Oh my gosh, it’s amazing. I You know what? Doing an underwear commercial and being on Dancing with the Stars was not on my bingo card, but honestly, here we are and I feel like I’m just embracing all the side quests, but but this project in particular feels like 10 years in the making. And out of everything I’ve done, whether it’s being in my undies, catching crocodiles, whatever it is, this is honestly probably the greatest experience of my whole life. And I’m just so grateful to be here. And it’s hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m still just like, what the heck am I doing? This is insane. And I can tell by the way, your energy is so charismatic. You’re just so grateful. And it really shows. But here’s the thing. You said you’ve never danced before this competition. And yet, two weeks in a row, you’ve wowed everyone. Bind won season 21. So, I have to know where are these dancing jeans coming from? Mom or dad’s side? Uh, I you know where the the dance experience comes from? It comes from Whitney. Honestly, I mean, seriously, like out of everything I’m I’m grateful about in this whole experience. Um, having a dance partner that is just so incredibly and obviously skilled, choreographically just genius, but also just an extremely kind human being. And we’re just here to have fun, which is the absolute best. Choreographically? Is that a word? Choreographically, you’re amazing. It’s a word now. It’s a word now. Thank you, bud. So, here’s the thing. You’re no stranger to wildlife conservation. So, what is more intimidating? Wild animals are performing live in this ballroom. Um, this ballroom is so much more terrifying than a crocodile, mate. Like, if a 15oot croc pulled up right now, I’d jump on him. No worries at all. You tell me to do a salsa and I’m terrified. The jungle doesn’t judge. Sorry. But if I mean I think we’ve been navigating it. It’s Oh, please. You You’ve been doing so well. What is he like in rehearsals? Does he still have this personality of just overjoyed? He’s exactly how you see him right now. And I’ve actually tried to like poke and prod and try to get him like a little frustrated. That’s like my job as a big sister. Just be like, “What’s your button?” There’s really not any that I’ve found so far. He just is like pure through and through. I can tell it’s genuine. But I just come to rehearsal every day so stoked to just to just spend the day with Whitney and just and just have the best time and and and just pour everything into something that’s hopefully hopefully bringing some positivity to people. You know, that’s what we need. Now, I love that your whole family moved out here to support you. What does Irwin family time look like? Have we tried Chick-fil-A yet? We No, we have not. I I had a thought about that. I think we should go to In-N-Out first and the burger place, especially on a dancer’s diet. Yeah. I mean, at least we’re getting some protein post. Like that’s like what we have to do first. Get the carbs in 100%. But it’s been so sweet like like your family, my family, we’ve all gotten together and we’ve all been spending time together and it feels like just kindred spirits, you know? It’s it’s so wonderful to just when this show brings together people and just forms these relationships and these friendships that last forever. Amazing.

Robert Irwin has taken Season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars” by storm alongside his pro partner, Witney Carson. NY Post Entertainment Reporter Alexandra Bellusci shares this story.
Not only has the wildlife conservationist, 21, dipped his toe into dancing, but he recently starred in ads for the men’s underwear company, Bonds. All of which Irwin never thought would be possible.
