Tim Allen, inspired by Charlie Kirk’s widow, forgives his father’s killer after 60 years
Tim Allen has chosen to forgive the drunk driver who killed his father in 1964 after hearing Erica Kirk’s eulogy at her husband Charlie Kirk’s funeral. He posted a statement on X that read, “When Erica Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband, “That man, that young man, I forgive him.” That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my dad. I will say those words now as I type. I forgive the man who killed my father. The home improvement star’s dad died in a car accident in November 1964 after colliding with a drunk driver. Allan was 11 at the time. Meanwhile, Charlie, a right-wing political activist, was fatally shot in the neck earlier this month while speaking on stage at Utah Valley University. While addressing the 200,000 people who attended her husband’s memorial service, including President Trump, Erica proclaimed that she forgave the man who shot Charlie. That man, that young man, I forgive him. She also noted in an interview with the New York Times that she would not be pushing for the death penalty for Tyler Robinson, the man charged with Charlie’s fatal shooting. Following the death, TurningPoint USA, Charlie’s nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school and college campuses, named Erica as the new CEO and chair of the board, and she has vowed to continue Charlie’s work and mission.

“When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: ‘That man… that young man… I forgive him.’ That moment deeply affected me,” the actor, 72, posted on X Thursday.
“I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad,” he admitted before adding, “I will say those words now as I type: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.’”
Allen concluded his message, “Peace be with you all.”
