Prince Harry did give a gift of a photograph to his father King Charles when they met just weeks ago, however it did not contain a picture of himself or Meghan Markle as previous reports suggested. It has been widely reported this week that the Duke of Sussex, 41, gave his father, 76, a photograph of Harry and Meghan, with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
However, a spokesperson for Prince Harry, who quit royal life in 2020, has now said this is untrue. Instead, it is believed the prince handed the King a framed photograph that did not include himself or his wife, and most likely just included the monarch’s grandchildren.
It is also believed that Harry did not refer to the meeting as “formal” or “official”, like previous reports have suggested.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry said: “Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting, is categorically false.
“The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son.
“Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.
“While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess.”
