Never used it really anyway, but deleted the minute I heard about the takeover. Even though I know longer live in the US, not interested in being indoctrinated with MAGA propoganda and will avoid it wherever possible (seems easier said than done these days). What’s so sad is how many young people are going to become SERIOUSLY fucked up – racist, classist, uneducated, etc. – because of this, which is, of course, exactly what Trump and his cronies want.
Free and radical thinking has always been a threat to fascist dictatorships, so not surprised he feels threatened in the slightest.
And that’s despite TikTok’s algorithm actively suppressing pro-Palestine and pro-LGBTQIA+ voices.
I’m good with this. TikTok will cease to exist. Something else will certainly pop up. But it’ll be nice

I fear for the future of this platform, and other non partisan platforms like blue sky and Mastodon, because, if they arent run by people in his pocket, he will go after them, threaten them with bans, or shut downs until they are run by people he can control.
State run social media and almost state run media networks. History reminds us, this is textbook fascism.

is tiktok US going to become it’s own app? i don’t really understand how they would change tiktok this much but only for the US? even just the takeover how does that work?

NO this is super concerning bc the party of pedo protectors want to takeover an app that is largely used by teenagers [where the content creators are predominantly teenagers]. I don’t think that traffic will slow down, because TickTock addiction is widespread
