Aimee Lou Wood talks about calling out SNL for the sketch making fun of her teeth: “I dont regret saying it…I remember thinking, I have the choice here to go and be embarrassed about it or just say “i didnt like that, it was mean”… Im still happy for me that I said something”

Good for her! That must have been a scary moment when she said something but I’m so glad she did!
I mean, that’s boomer humor for you- punched down at people for things they can’t help to make yourself feel better
She has nothing to be embarrassed about. She’s amazing and the SNL sketch was way out-of-line.
I genuinely like Sarah Sherman but her doing that will probably forever affect how I think about her. I thought she might have some more sense.
the entire idea of ‘bad british teeth’ or ‘bad teeth’ in general is just 1 more piece of propaganda from america so you spend money on cosmetic surgery and fund a privatised dental industrial complex, meanwhile if you have actual issues with your teeth/gums/mouth (which are systemic to your health overall, by the way!!) you can barely get addressing it covered by insurance and have to spend a literal fortune to do so
Good for Aimee and fuck Sarah Sherman.
She’s 100% right. We need to start calling people out.
Obviously that wasn’t the first joke about someone’s physical features in SNL, but it felt just *mean* at a very basic level, because what was so funny about it exactly? I know lots of people are like, “famous people just have to deal with this, it comes with fame!”, like yeah, sure, but Aimee was also allowed to voice her own feelings.
yes, i love this! snl were being bullies and needed to be called out.
