A royal couple who have reportedly separated won’t divorce for one reason, a friend has revealed. Lord Nicholas Windsor, the youngest son of the Duke and late Duchess of Kent, and his wife, Paola, Lady Nicholas Windsor, are reportedly no longer together.
While Lord Nicholas has not announced the news himself, the absence of Paolo from his mother, the Duchess of Kent’s funeral raised suspicions.
A family friend has now confirmed the pair have gone their separate ways.
It comes 19 years after they married in 2006. It was the first Roman Catholic wedding of a member of the Royal Family since the reign of Queen Mary I in the 16th century.
Despite many couples opting for divorce following separation, it is understood that this will not be the case for Lord Nicholas, 55, and Paola, 56, due to their conservative views and aversion to divorce.

A family friend told The Daily Mail: “It’s very sad, but the couple have been separated for some time.”
They added: “They no longer attend family events together. Both are very conservative and dislike divorce, so apparently they will never actually get divorced.”
The couple are expected to co-parent their three sons Albert, Leopold and Louis. The exact timing and reasons behind the separation remain unknown, reports the Express.

The Royal Family has yet to comment on the matter.
Despite Lord Nicholas and Paola’s decision to remain married, numerous other Royal couples have chosen to part ways in the past.
This includes King Charles, formerly known as the Prince of Wales, and his first wife, Diana, Princess of Wales, as well as Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and Princess Anne and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips.
