Madonna Reveals NEW Details Of 2023 Sepsis Hospitalization
One minute I was alive and dancing around and the next minute I was in the ICU unit of a hospital and I woke up from being unconscious for 4 days. Madonna is opening up about a life-threatening experience. During the September 29th episode of J Shetty’s on Purpose podcast, the 67-year-old pop icon revealed new details about her 2023 hospitalization, which paused performances for the celebration tour. Madonna had previously shared that she was in an induced coma for 48 hours due to a bacterial infection. But now the material girl singer is opening up even more about her sepsis diagnosis and being unconscious for 4 days. About a year and a half ago, I was rehearsing for my tour a tour and I I got a a bacterial infection and I one minute I was alive and dancing around and the next minute I was in the ICU unit of a hospital and I woke up from being unconscious for 4 days. I got out of the hospital, they took me off of, you know, the ventilator. started to breathe on my own and I had something something it’s called sepsis and it’s like it can kill you. Yeah, that’s really bad. Madonna and Jay were having a larger conversation about spirituality and the singer used the story of recovering from sepsis to demonstrate radical acceptance. And so, you know, I’ve always seen myself as superwoman. So, I was like, “Oh, I’m going to I’m going to this is going to I’m going to kick this. I’m going to be good. I’m getting back into rehearsals.” And I had no strength. I had no energy. I couldn’t get out of bed and I didn’t know when it was going to end. And I used to talk to my teacher all the time and he’s like, “The sooner you accept what’s happening to you and that you don’t know when it’s going to end, the sooner it’s going to end.” That made so much sense to me. And of course it did. Um, radical acceptance is just accepting that what is happening to you is meant to happen to you and that you’re going to be okay. In July 2024, Madonna celebrated the one-year anniversary of her recovery in a now deleted Instagram post. “I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year,” she wrote July 4th weekend. “Thank you, God. Life is beautiful. [Music]
