King Charles reportedly shares the same concerns as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when it comes to young people and social media. The monarch, 76, reportedly held a 40-minute meeting at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Sunday where he aired his concerns on how social media usage is impacting children.

The meeting was between the King and Reverend Tommy MacNeil, who runs the Shed Project mental health charity on the Isle of Lewis. It was held in private.

Rev MacNeil has since shared what the pair spoke about, including the difficulties involved in addressing such issues.

He told The Telegraph: “He was very engaged and 100 per cent appreciative of the work we are doing.

“Young people today are growing up in a different world to their parents. The stuff they are accessing on their phones is frightening.

“King Charles was clearly very concerned about the whole issue and negative influences on young people from social media.”

The monarch’s view is similar to that echoed by his younger son Prince Harry, 41, and his wife Meghan Markle, 44.

Despite the couple quitting royal life, they have remained dedicated to charitable and important causes through their Archewell Foundation.

This includes trying to find ways to help children not be negatively affected by social media.

At an event in New York City earlier this year, Harry and Meghan unveiled the Lost Screen Memorial to honour children whose death may have been contributed to by social media.

Harry said at the time: “We want to make sure that things are changed so that… no more kids are lost to social media.”
