‘Trashy’ Keith Urban ripped for changing Nicole Kidman-inspired lyrics amid cheating rumors
[Music] Keith Urban is getting backlash for changing the lyrics to his song Fighter, which was originally inspired by Nicole Kidman just as news broke that the couple was headed for Splitzville. In a recent clip from his tour, Keith gives his guitarist Maggie Ba a shout out, singing, “When they trying to get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.” Maggie was flattered, but Instagram users didn’t think the viral moment was so cute. Commenting, “Show some class, Keith, for goodness sake. Nicole deserves better.” And it is so trashy to do this to a song inspired by his wife. It’s the ultimate ick. In the original 2016 song featuring Carrie Underwood, Keith Kun protectively, “When they try to get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter. [Music] Notably, Keith told fans in 2017 that he wrote the song very quickly because he literally just thought about Nick and their relationship at the beginning and some of the things they’d said. Other lyrics include, “I know he hurt you, made you scared of love, and he didn’t deserve you.” Possible references to Nicole’s first husband, Tom Cruz. The Hollywood power couple was married from 1990 to 2001. That year, the statuesque 5 foot1 actress famously took a swing at her significantly shorter ex on Letterman. Well, I can wear heels now. She moved on to country singer Keith Urban, who is only an inch shorter than her. They got married in 2006, had two daughters, and seemed like the perfect couple till it all came crashing down this week. Nicole filed for divorce on Tuesday, September 30th, citing the classic irreconcilable differences. Although a source previously told Page 6 that she did not want the separation and was trying to save things. This comes as cheating rumors are swirling all over Nashville. An insider close to Nicole told TMZ, “All the signs point to the fact that Keith is with another woman.” Let’s just say Nicole doesn’t dispute that, but she’s still shocked over it. However, the timeline is unclear. Page Six sources say Nicole and Keith have been separated since June and have been living apart.
Keith Urban’s big little lyric change is going viral after his and Nicole Kidman’s split.
Prior to Kidman filing for divorce from her husband of 19 years, Urban performed “The Fighter,” which was inspired by their early days together.
However, the Grammy winner, 57, recently tweaked one of the lines to reference his utility player, Maggie Baugh, during a show.
