George Michael is Receiving Posthumous Credit on Taylor Swift’s Album | E! News

Taylor Swift is giving credit to the late George Michael. The pop icon is credited on Taylor’s upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. Michael, who died in 2016, is credited as a songwriter on Taylor’s track Father Figure. It’s reportedly a nod to the icon’s 1987 hit of the same name. And there’s speculation that Swift will interpolate the original, hence the writing credit. Some fans have pointed out that it’s rare for Taylor to sample a song, adding to the excitement of her already very highly anticipated 12th studio album. The singer previously gave some insight into the creation of Life of a Showgirl, which she made during her era’s tour, saying that showgirl life isn’t always what it seems. She revealed on a recent episode of Beyonce Travis Kelce’s podcast, “My day ends with me in a bathtub, not usually in a bedazzled dress. I wanted to glamorize all the different aspects of how the tour felt.
