Who is Maggie Baugh? Keith Urban’s guitarist linked to his Nicole Kidman lyric change

Keith Urban recently drew attention during a live performance for a change he made to the lyrics of his song The Fighter, originally written by his early relationship with Nicole Kidman. Instead of singing the familiar line, [Music] Urban addressed his guitarist Maggie Ba with the words. The moment was shared on Instagram by Ba and quickly spread online. Some fans described the change as light-hearted, while others questioned the timing, given that the song has long been associated with Urban’s marriage. This performance followed another on April 1st in Las Vegas when Urban appeared to sing directly to Ba during the same song. At that time, the interaction passed largely without comment, but has since resurfaced amid news of Urban and Kidman’s separation. 2 days after Bob posted the clip, it was confirmed that Kidman had filed for divorce. The couple had been married for 19 years and shared two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Reports suggest they had been living apart since June. Maggie Ba, the 25-year-old guitarist featured in these performances, is a rising country music artist in her own right. Born in Boca Raton, Florida, she began playing violin at 6 years old and performed at Carnegie Hall by the age of 11. She later moved to Nashville at 18 to pursue a career in music. BA released her debut album, Dear Me, in 2023 and has a second album expected in 2025. She has shared the stage with artists including Luke Bryan and Trace Atkins and made her Grand Old Opry debut in 2024. Currently, she performs as a utility player on Keith Urban’s High and Alive world tour. The lyric change has added another layer of public discussion around Urban and Kidman’s divorce, while also introducing many viewers to Bob and her growing career in country music.

After news broke that longtime couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were going their separate ways, his much-younger female guitarist — Maggie Baugh — became part of the discussion.

In the months leading up to the actress, 58, filing for divorce from her husband of 19 years, the country singer and his band performed “The Fighter,” which was inspired by their early days together.

During an April performance, Urban, 57, sang the lyrics, “I was born to love you,” as he looked and pointed at Baugh, 25.
