‘Monster’ star Charlie Hall shares game-changing acting tip he got from mom Julia Louis-Dreyfus

who you play in this. So, I play uh Deputy Frank Morgan uh who is part of the small law enforcement team in this small town that Ed lived in who uh is responsible for figuring out what in the world is going on uh and things kind of develop and it becomes a little personal for Frank uh as it continues. But yeah, um how it’s so I was just reading up on it. It is the creepiest. I mean, out of all the serial killers like eating them, I mean, I this is the creepiest I’ve ever read by far. Right. For sure. It’s really intense and you see you very quickly see, you know, why these other horror movies were, you know, Silence of the Lamb, Psycho, etc. were uh so heavily influenced by the story of that because it is certainly unnerving and eerie for sure. Did it give you nightmares at all when you were shooting it? Luckily, I stayed away from the nightmares, but certainly it I had to make a point to like watch something funny when I got home or things like that because it definitely especially with my characters um arc and how intense things get for him. It can be wearing to be uh and creatively exciting, but to be on a set like that is you need moments of referee for sure. Um what’s the best advice that your parents have given you? That’s a really good question. I you know I it’s such a basic one but my when I first started acting my mom I was like mom how do you like how how do I become good at this and uh she was like I think you should read every script and ask yourself how would a human say the words you’re about to say and I know that that sounds so basic but sometimes in the flurry of acting techniques and stuff you kind of forget that your first and kind of only job is to feel like a real

Charlie Hall says the most valuable acting advice he ever received from his mom, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, was surprisingly “basic.”

“When I first started acting, I was like, ‘Mom, how do I become good at this?’ and she was like, ‘I think you should read every script and ask yourself, how [would] a human say the words you’re about to say?’” he told Page Six exclusively at the premiere of “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” on Tuesday.

Hall shared that he knows the advice may sound trite, but explained it was actually a powerful lesson.
