Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were reportedly “very sad” when their mother, Princess Kate, attended a solo royal engagement at the RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

The Princess of Wales was all smiles during her visit to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire on Thursday – her first visit since becoming Royal Honorary Air Commodore in August 2023. Kate, 43, seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself as she tried out a flight simulator and performed a loop-the-loop.

Dressed in a gray pant suit, the princess also inspected a Typhoon and chatted with those living at the station. During a conversation in the station’s communal area, known as The Lounge, Kate revealed why her three children would be disappointed that day, according to the Daily Express UK.

The princess was given three toy Typhoons and key rings for George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, seven. However, the future Queen disclosed that her children would be “upset” because she got to see a Typhoon and spent time looking at military aircraft without them.

The royal was overheard saying, “They will be very upset that I’ve seen a Typhoon without them!” Discussing how her children felt about her going on the visit without them, as they were all in school, the princess said: “My children were very sad. The boys, particularly.”

This is likely due to the children’s keen interest in aviation, with Louis reportedly aspiring to become a fighter pilot when he grows up. Kate reportedly discussed this during her visit on Thursday, echoing a similar sentiment expressed by Louis in the past.

It was reported that the princess was overheard saying, “I’m going to tell them it takes eight years and a lot of hard work.”

And while Prince William did not join his wife for the public engagement, he’s been busy with his own engagements, including a starring role in Eugene Levy’s travel show The Reluctant Traveler.

Surprisingly, William mentioned Prince Harry during the episode, which is the first time he’s spoken about his younger brother in ages. When Levy asked William about George’s one day being King, William reflected on how he and Harry grew up.

William said: “It’s an interesting question and it’s a big question that one. Because there’s lots of things to think about with that. But obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.” Prince William also added, “That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in – and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”

The fact that William would even utter Harry’s name is a step in the right direction; he’s at least acknowledging his existence.
