Taylor Swift’s new song ‘Wood’ — about Travis Kelce — is her raunchiest track yet
it sounds ain’t hard to see the key. Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, dropped Friday at midnight. And as many fans expected, it includes several nods to the singer’s fiance, Travis Kelce. From lyrics about wanting to settle down to a jaw-dropping new heights of manhood line, Page Six is breaking down all the new tracks that seemingly reference Swift’s romance with the NFL star. Starting with track one, the fate of Ailia. Swift wastes no time commemorating the early days of her romance with Kelsey. She seemingly sings about how the athlete swooped in and made the first move. The song implies that he saved her heart from the fate of Oilia, a character from Shakespeare’s famous Hamlet tragedy. Back in August, Swifties immediately theorized that the third track Opalite could be in reference to Kelsey. The three-time Super Bowl champion was born on October 5th, 1989, meaning his astrological sign is Libra and his birthstones are Opel and Tormolene. Swift’s track three, Opelite, follows the story of someone who had a bad habit of finding relationships that were never going to last, with lyrics about living with ghosts and believing they were haunted forever until, of course, everything changed. On the Capital Breakfast show, Taylor Swift confirmed that the song Opalite is indeed Travis’s favorite. Track five, Eldest Daughter. When you found me, I said I was busy. That was a lie. Swift hums on the album’s catchy fifth track. I have been afflicted by a terminal uniqueness. I’ve been dying just from trying to seem cool. Some Swifties believe those lyrics specifically reference Kelsey’s previous admission about not wanting to meet the singer at her 2023 Kansas City era’s tour stop. At the time, Swift was still fresh off her split from the 1975 frontman Maddie Healey, whom the singer wrote several songs about on her last album, The Tortured Poets Department. Track eight, Wish List. The pop star has a wish list and starting a family with Kelsey appears to be at the top of it. The lyrics for track 8 seemingly reference Swift’s new era of life with Kelsey as they get ready to tie the knot following the engagement news heard around the world. We tell the world they got to leave us alone. And they do. Wow. Settle down. Now for what is arguably her most vulgar song to date. Track nine. Wood. Swift sings about her curse of bad relationships being broken by a magic wand. Girls I don’t need to catch the bouquet. I know a hard rock is on the way. She continues later adding, “Seems to me that you and me, we make our own luck. New heights of manhood. I ain’t going to knock on wood.” Track 11, Honey. Later on the album, Swift sings about someone bringing a whole different meaning to the term Honey. The track seems to be an obvious reference to Kelsey, who has used endearing nicknames like Sweetie and My Lady when chatting about his pop star fiance. Honey, I’m home. We can play house. We can bed down. Pick me up. Who’s the baddest in the land? What’s the plan?” she adds. What’s the plan? You could be my forever nightstand, honey. The Grammy winner also gushes over having a partner who is finally in awe of her and not afraid to praise her in public. Don’t you just love love?
