Kyren Lacy was a 24 year old LSU footballer, set to be drafted into the NFL. In 2024 he was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless vehicle operation.
Under the direction of police officers, everyone at the scene of the crime completed eyewitness reports stating that he was the perpetrator of the accident.
Kyren lost everything because of this and I mean everything. He was dropped from his team, lost his sponsorships and dropped from the NFL draft.
Now, it’s just come out that the police department had this footage, footage that showed that he was 70-100 yards BEHIND the fatal crash.
I’m just feeling so sad right now, because this young man took his own life as a result of this. The police had the ability to clear his name immediately, but they didn’t, they held onto this footage for almost 1 year. And to the witnesses, WHY would you lie about something like that? And to the police..WHY would you instruct people to LIE???? What is an accurate title for this and not a editorialised title

There’s bodycam footage of one cop telling “eyewitnesses” to blame it on Lacy as a hit-and-run. Just absolutely tragic. This kid’s name and reputation were dragged through the mud, and even after he took his own life there wasn’t much sympathy displayed.
As a draft scout, I’d been following him for a while and really liked his game. Seemed like a good kid, too, until it was all seemingly called into question by this “incident.” None of this needed to happen. Just some racist Louisiana cops who decided to ruin the life of a young Black man.
I hate our “justice” system. America is such a disgrace in the way it is built on the backs of the same people it continues to torment. This story is heart wrenching. The way our media and society take no accountability for the pain caused and the damage done is heartbreaking
You guys not have proper collision investigators in the US?
Here in the UK for any serious accident there would be investigators that would within hours determine the broad details of a crash.

Police lie and harass a young man to death. Horrific. And the fact that it took almost a year for this to come out, after months of racist harassment and abuse towards him and his family from people seeking to use this as justification for their racism. Just vile.
His poor family. I pray that they find peace in him being cleared of the accusations and that they get a good attorney to make the police pay for their negligence. I also pray that the accident victim’s family is able to find out who really took their loved one from them. Devastating all around.
A cold reminder that as a black man you can do everything right, work your ass off & still be intentional taken down by this “justice” system. May he rest in peace & looking forward to this family suing the shit out of everyone involved.

This has me crying. One thing I learned well this year is that when people take their own lives it just gives the pain to everyone else. I’m so sorry for all who loved him and so heartbroken he left this world in pain
