the mere concept of being sent an AI video of your deceased parent is not only terrifying but incredibly repulsive

Had to google who she is… Omg why would people send someone AI videos of their dead father?!? No one needs AI slop let alone someone who was actually close to them.

Well done on her for calling out this awfulness

The problem is the people feasting off of this slop are just as vapid as the content

    4. People are weird and gross. This generative AI bullshit is turning into an outlet for them to do weird and gross stuff.

    5. How unbelievably out of touch, callous, and just straight up stupid has our society become?

That’s a rhetorical question. I still watch the news.

    6. I have a coworker who does this for parents of his friends. I do not understand the appeal whatsoever. It’s creepy and it never looks right. But no one calls him out on it so I guess people at least tolerate it in public.

    7. She’s 100% correct. Someone sent me a Sora2 video earlier that was so spectacularly stupid and cringe that I would’ve taken myself to planned parenthood for an extremely late term abortion had we not banned PP.

Had to look her up like someone else mentioned, and that’s awful. It’s an awful behavior to partake in, in general. But also, why?! Like, what puzzle piece is missing in people’s brains that allows them to think that this would be good…wanted…necessary? This is just cruel.

Edit: it’s been 11 years since he passed away?! It feels like it happened recently. Dang. 😔

    9. That’s so disturbing. I am so sorry for her. I would probably quit the internet if possible if I were her.

Absolutely insane that she needs to say this

Slop consumers need to be rocketed into the sun

I’m glad she’s calling out how it devalues the person/artist/artwork/whatever the model steals from. Not every aspect of the human experience is meant to be sold!

hard agree with zelda – robin’s legacy was far too impactful for AI videos to evoke any emotion other than disgust. its insulting to think his daughter would be impressed by AI slop. i hope her message gets across to the losers who do this crap.

People have already been falling for fake celebrity social media account scams since Facebook took off, so how many vulnerable people are going to get sent videos of big-name celebrities, living or not, talking directly to them and telling them to send gift card codes and shit?

    14. I feel so bad for her, Robert Irwin, and Jason Ritter with the way fans interact on social media. Robert will try to share a video about an animal or the work he does and half the comments are like “hey guess how much I miss your DEAD DAD! I am so personally sad and affected by YOUR DEAD DAD!” Like jeez, people read the room and let these folks be their own person. I’m sure they miss their father far more than you do.

    15. Her and the Irwin kids are better humans than I. People cannot help themselves from reminding these poor people that their fathers are dead.

She put this so beautifully and eloquently. I’m borrowing this for my students.
