AOC: “I thought that fascist takeover attempts were going to be architected by evil geniuses. I was not expecting how unearned, nepotistic, mediocre and just dumb so many of the people architecting this were going to be”

    1. I hate to be the “sees everything through the lens of Franchise IP Media” guy, but-

The thing that’s aged the worst in the Star Wars prequels, more than any special effect, is the idea that Palpatine needed to be a subtle Machiavellian mastermind orchestrating a vast conspiracy. He just needed to be loud and annoying enough and at least half the Republic would have said “Hell yeah brother”

    2. On top of the flagrant stupidity… I am saddened by how few cowards it’s taken to dismantle progress that took decades to centuries to attain.

      > The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for ~~good~~ men to do nothing.

    3. Fun fact: Most of the Nazi’s were also lame losers. Himmler was a nerd who was into cosplay. Hitler was a failed artist and had big incel energy. Most of the Nazi’s were from the middle and lower upper class. The most dangerous people are bored white men who think they are entitled to being “someone” and are resentful that it wasn’t just handed to them.

Honestly, I think most Americans don’t realize that because it has to be translated from German, but Hitler and the nazis weren’t that smart either.

Although, Hitler did a bunch for Germany’s economy to gain respect before all the holocaust shit, Trump didn’t do jack shit to gain respect, it’s just media control.

I have two jobless brothers and they have the most amount of time to hate others – especially the ones who don’t belong to a certain religion. It’s always the unemployed, dumb and inept ones.

I think the people who foresaw this era of America couldn’t believe it was going to happen. The rest didn’t want to believe it could happen.

    7. It’s sad because all the stupid, intellectually challenged voters see themselves in the stupid, intellectually challenged representatives of this Administration. They think, “Oh that could be me!” when they see all the DEI hires, just like how they are against taxing the rich because they think they’ll be part of the 1% one day.

I agree with her when it comes to the US. Authoritarians trend pretty dumb, but they also tend to do something or have the aura that gets them some form of respect and loyalty by the people needed to get their goals achieved. I genuinely thought that the US, as huge as it is, as many politicians as there are, would need some sophistication behind the infiltration.

I was very wrong. Once the gigantic citizenship of the country becomes so strongly divided, so desperate for someone to blame and for a savior, being smart has nothing to do with it.
