Brits receiving certain benefits will be able to visit a number of King Charles’ palaces for just £1 this Christmas.

The Royal Collection Trust is set to welcome people on Universal Credit to Windsor Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Royal Mews and The King’s Galleries in London and Edinburgh for the discounted price.

And it’s not only those on Universal Credit who will be able to claim the deal, as those on Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Pension Credit, Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, and Jobseeker’s Allowance will all be able to take advantage of the offer.

Children under five and access companions will still be able to enter free of charge.

This deal forms part of the Trust’s winter programme, which will run from November 2025 to January 2026.

Unfortunately, the £1 ticket cannot be used for tours through Buckingham Palace, converted into a one-year pass or even used for paid extras such as lectures or private tours, GB News reported.

The tickets are also not eligible for Gift aid and are non-refundable once they are booked.

A spokesman for Royal Collection Trust said the latest scheme has been rolled out to “ensure as many people as possible have access to the Royal Collection,” with the organisation acknowledging ticket prices can block some from being able to access the royal sites.

Each site is expected to be adorned by Christmas decorations, with Windsor Castle welcoming guests with a 20-foot-high Nordmann fir tree in St George’s Hall, which has been grown on the grounds.

Festive garlands and lights will be up for every visitor to enjoy.

Other royal locations in Britain that will also face a blast of Christmas is the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

From November 20 to January 5, it will be dresses for the season as it celebrates 100 years since it was first opened to the public.
