Prince William has outlined his plans for ‘change’ within the Royal Family when he ascends to the throne, in one of his most open interviews yet.

A source close to the Prince of Wales has now disclosed the two key ways in which William intends to ‘shake things up’ at the monarchy when his time comes.

Just last week, the future king laid out his plans for when he takes to the throne, as reported by the Mirror, stating: “Change is on my agenda – change for good”.

This came during his appearance on the Apple TV show The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy, where he gave the Schitt’s Creek star a tour of Windsor Castle and the surrounding grounds.

Although he didn’t specify what changes he was considering during the show, a palace insider has now opened up on what those might be.

Speaking to People magazine, a source revealed: “”Prince William’s been quite vocal about what he wants to do when the time comes. [To be] more accessible, more approachable.

“During the travel programme, William also candidly discussed how his wife Kate’s cancer battle left him feeling overwhelmed, shared that his children do not have mobile phones, and expressed his ambition to create a “world in which my son is proud of what we do”.

He referred to being Prince of Wales and king as a ‘job’, and said he takes his ‘roles’ and ‘responsibilities’ seriously, but stressed it was important “you don’t feel they own you – you have to own them”.

His remarks represent his thoughts on his role as heir to the throne, as he revealed: “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda – change for good,” he told Levy during their discussion about his future monarchy and how his son Prince George will eventually follow in his footsteps.

William continued: “And I embrace that and I enjoy that change – I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical change, but changes that I think need to happen.”

The future monarch was captured on camera in February during a conversation with Levy at Windsor Castle, where he acted as tour guide for his visitor, walking his black cocker spaniel Orla around the estate before sharing a drink at nearby pub, The Two Brewers.

Royal expert Andrew Morton also shared with the publication: “He struck me as one of the lads. That’s different from previous generations. He seems very much one of us, even though he is the future King.”

Prince George, who marked his 12th birthday in July, is destined to succeed his grandfather Charles and father William as monarch, with the Prince of Wales commenting about the young royal: “I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.”

He seemed to imply his desire to protect his son from enduring the ‘practices’ both him and his brother Prince Harry experienced, potentially referencing to the invasive media attention that also troubled their mother, Princess Diana.
