How Love Is Blind’s Patrick Feels About Kacie After Comments on Attraction | E! News
Patrick Suzuki is sharing his side of the story after his time was cut short on the new season of Love is Blind when his fiance Casey Macintosh ended their engagement shortly after leaving the pods. Patrick explains how he felt quote blindsided in an interview with People magazine published October 3rd. He tells the outlet, “She told me she loved me. She’s kissing me. There’s reciprocity there, so I’m with it. But I was definitely completely blindsided.” As fans recall, Patrick’s journey on the hit dating show started off with him growing a deep connection for Anna, who had decided to abruptly exit the show only a couple episodes in, leaving Patrick heartbroken. But as he was getting over that heartache, the Denver native started opening up to his other connection, Casey, who was very forward in the pods that Patrick was the guy for her. She even repeatedly reassured him that his race was not a factor, even though she said she had never dated an Asian man before. He says of Casey, “You’re in this pressure cooker experiment, and there’s like 10 days to make a decision, and I was definitely catching feelings for her, and I know she was catching feelings for me, too.” However, after the two finally met at the reveal, it appears things changed for Casey. Right before leaving for Mexico, viewers saw Casey tell production that she did not want to continue the show because she was not quote obsessed with Patrick’s looks. But when she told Patrick, she did not outwardly say she wanted to end things between them. So he interpreted it as she wanted to just take things slow. Quote, I thought she wanted to just go away from the cameras and just like, let’s just hang out for a second. That’s why I was like, don’t worry, we can slow it down. But the two ended up going their separate ways. Now looking back on the show, Patrick says it quote, “Took me many months of therapy to find closure with how the experiment ended. But he does not harbor any ill will towards Casey, explaining, “I mean, I’m not mad at her or anything like that. I wish there was an easier way to handle it. It was just you have to piece it together that she wasn’t truly interested afterwards, and you got to take it on the chin and move on from there. [Music]

I’m sorry but Patrick kept claiming that people have told him that “he’s really attractive for an Asian guy”. He literally said that at least a dozen times. I don’t think he is attractive at all. I also find it hard to believe that someone would tell him that he is attractive, nor would they add “for an Asian man. That would be so obviously offensive, rude and disrespectful. He gave her false hope that he was very good looking…..he is NOT!
Patrick had low self esteem. He was ashamed of being Asian. He chased snow bunnies. He needed to be more confident. But Colorado is different from California. I'm the same ethnicity. Part Chinese and Cambodian. More of Cambodian. 🎉 🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭
As a Cambodian, I was so excited to see Patrick on LIB, but I knew that that outcome would happen – both with Anne and Kacie. At the end of the day, South East Asian men in particular don't get love in the same way. Its an issue also within our cultures as well (both for Khmer men and women), which is rampant in colourism and shame of our own identities. Cambodians in particular because of intergenerational trauma. This is why I try to praise any Cambodian man I meet doing his thang in the industry spaces I see them. I want them to know they are valued and worthy. If you knew the HISTORY that our people have endured, you would know how strong, loving, forgiving and patient our community is. Looks are only surface.
Patrick was insecure about his race and looks. He just went in for the proposal because he wanted to prove that he is not a total loser and that girl was remotely interested in him.
You could tell everything by her reaction when he told her he was Asian. But honestly since he grew up around a lot of white people a lot of the judgmental and racial energy they put into everyone who is diverse is exactly why he should date other races. A black girl would gladly accept him and understand exactly what he was feeling. Unfortunately a lot of white peoples don’t understand culture sensitivity and the beauty of diverse people unless it benefits them in some way.
