Strictly Come Dancing’s La Voix has given an exclusive peek into what she saw while performing at a covert Royal bash. The 45-year-old was asked to perform at Prince William and Prince Harry’s New Year’s Eve do at London’s Dorchester Hotel – but one particular moment at the event left her gobsmacked.
While belting out tunes, the telly star said she spotted the now late Queen Elizabeth II grooving to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ banger Uptown Funk.
Revealing the unexpected moment, she said: “I’ve [performed] for the Royal Family for two years on the trot. I did their New Year’s Eve party at the Dorchester for two consecutive years for Prince William and Harry – it was their do and it was brilliant.
“Obviously there were loads of NDAs signed and things that I’m not allowed to spill – I can’t give you too much – but I can say I’m one of the only people to have seen the Queen boogie to Uptown Funk, Queen Liz.”
Sharing her reaction to the monarch’s dance moves, La Voix confessed she was wowed.

“She was amazing! The biggest takeaway I had from that was it was like watching a regular family having a knees-up – it just felt so normal and so wonderful. I was really honoured to have been able to do that, it was brilliant,” she added.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star looks back on the moment as one of the biggest highlights of her career to date, along with being asked to strut her stuff on Strictly Come Dancing this year.
“That was amazing, a bit like doing Strictly. There are certain calls you get where you go, ‘Oh my god, that’s amazing,’ and to get the call to do that for the royals was incredible. So yeah, [it was] definitely a highlight.”
Recently, the star who has Royal approval has been dazzling on the Strictly dance floor with her professional dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec. The pair have so far performed a Jive and an American Smooth, and are set to return with a Waltz routine to Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins this weekend.
La Voix is doing panto this year
In addition to her packed schedule, La Voix will soon be gearing up for her role as Dame Trott in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Wycombe Swan Theatre this festive season.
“Everything I’ve wanted to do has all come at the same time – it’s wonderful, but it’s like, just keep calm and carry on,” she said about her numerous commitments.
“I’ve never done a Jack and the Beanstalk [show]. I’ve done pantomime for 20-odd years – Aladdin, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast – but never Jack and the Beanstalk, so it’ll be a first for me. I’m playing Dame Trott, basically I’m a farmer. I don’t know how they’re going to make La Voix into a farmer, but I’m excited to bring glamour to the farming community!
“Again, it’s another thing I’m doing during this autumn and winter period – is there anything I’m not doing? It’s like outreach for me.
“The world is a very unfunny place at the minute and I feel like people need glamour, laughter, and entertainment – and that’s what I aim to do. Pantomime is a great example.”
