Following news of the Oscar winner’s passing on October 11th, the former daytime talk show host shares what the actress meant to her. Writing on Instagram, “Diane Katon was an icon, a hero of mine growing up. To be able to connect with her on my show over the years was so much fun.” Ellen adds of Dian’s 20 appearances on her show. She was one of my all-time favorite guests. Always a surprise, always fun. She was one of a kind. The comedian also posts a montage of some of Dian’s most memorable visits to Ellen’s show over the years, including this moment when Diane let loose on the show while sipping her favorite cocktail, red wine over ice. This this is great because when you drink this this way, you can have like about eight glasses and not get alcohol, you know, like poison in your lips and you can just enjoy it. It’s light. People think I’m crazy, but they’re wrong. Drink. Is this illegal, by the way? No. What do you mean? They’re not going to take me to jail, are they? Why would they take you to jail? Because who knows? Maybe you’re not allowed to drink on shows. I mean, this is a first for me. I think most people drink on shows. Oh, I don’t even care what you say. I’m happy now. All right.
