(Gray News) – Grammy-award-winning R&B artist D’Angelo has died, according to multiple reports. He was 51.
According to a statement from his family, he died from a “long and courageous battle” with cancer, Rolling Stone reported.

Following the news of his death, fans poured out tributes honoring the singer on social media.
Marc Lamont Hill wrote on X, “I have no words.”
Another user wrote, “RIP D’angelo. R&B wouldn’t be the same without you.”
The R&B artist’s debut album “Brown Sugar” sold over two million copies with songs like “Lady,” “Cruisin’,” and the title track “Brown Sugar.”
His second album, “Voodoo,” earned him a Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. The album itself won Best R&B Album at the 2001 Grammys.
He also won Best R&B Song in 2016 for “Really Love” and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “How Does It Feel.”
D’Angelo shares a son with the late singer Angie Stone. The former couple dated for four years in the 90s.
