Look Who’s Back: ‘SNL’ Cold Open Reunites Amy Poehler & Tina Fey As Pam Bondi & Kristi .#hollywood
Good evening everyone. You’re watching Celeb Spree. I’m Rachel and tonight we’re taking you behind the scenes of an unforgettable Saturday Night Live episode. One that blended comedy, nostalgia, and a touch of Hollywood legacy. On the same day that Oscar-winning Hollywood icon Dian Katon passed away at age 79, Saturday Night Live chose to open with a classic, a sharp political cold open that reunited comedy legends Amy Polar and Tina Fay. The sketch featured SNLs current cast as confused senators grilling Trump cabinet members Pam Bondi and Christine OM hilariously portrayed by tonight’s host Amy Per and her longtime comedy partner Tina Fay per kicked things off with her signature sass saying before I don’t answer I’d like to insult you personally. Her version of Bondi bragged about having many rose style burns prepared for her testimony setting the tone for a fiery opener. This parody followed real life testimony on Capitol Hill earlier this week where the former Florida attorney general clashed with senators over topics ranging from ICE to Jeffrey Epstein and even the government shutdown. In SNLS version Polar, the DOJ has many ongoing operations and were moving like Cash Patel’s eyeballs very quickly in multiple directions at once. Then came Tina Fay, stepping in his gun toading Christine Nom, tossing her machine gun aside and declaring, “I’m the rarest type of person in Washington, a brunette that Donald Trump listens to.” FA didn’t hold back, even poking fun at No M’s controversial memoir. Dogs don’t just get shot, she quipped, “Heroes shoot them.” Now, while SNL delivered its trademark political humor, the night carried extra weight. Earlier that morning, Hollywood lost one of its greats, Diane Katon. The beloved Oscar winner known for Annie Hall and the Godfather trilogy. Katon, who never appeared on SNL, passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 79, leaving behind a remarkable career that spanned over five decades. Tonight’s episode was also a reunion of sorts. SNL veteran Amy Per returned as host for the third time, revisiting her weekend update chemistry with Tina Fay. The pair reminded fans why their partnership remains one of the most beloved in SNL history. Alongside Polar’s return, role model made his SNL debut as the musical guest. And next week, fans can look forward to another special. Sabrina Carpenter will pull double duty as both host and performer. A night of laughter, tribute, and television history. SNL truly knows how to mix the heartfelt with the hilarious. That’s all for now. You’re watching Celeb Spree.
