Which medical drama has a lot of its writers finding out that the reason their show is coming back for a season 2 so quickly is because the showrunner has been running the scripts through AI software to “streamline the process”?

    1. Imagine telling someone in 1993 that a show taking a year to come back on the air with less than 23 episodes will be perceived as “coming back so soon”.

    2. I mean, clearly it’s about The Pitt, but I thought it was coming back quickly because the people running it are making it like an actual TV show and not a movie carved up into 6 episodes–ie, a writers room running working on future eps while the show is in active production with the showrunner overseeing it overall but the writing and production happening simultaneously. Versus something like The Last of Us or Stranger Things, where the showrunner is also the writer and the director and refuses to hand off any of those jobs to others, so each step has to be completely finished before the next step can start.

The Pitt. There’s a few eye-rolling things about this show and how its produced.

Yikes. But also, it’s so annoying that a TV show having its next season premiere just one (1) year after the previous season did is seen as a rarity. That used to be normal!

I don’t buy this lol. The Pitt creator/showrunner is fucking old school and knows how to run an efficient writers room. ppl trying to cry AI screams of butthurt Severance stans mad at the fact that The Pitt is gonna sweep at the winter awards.

everyone here ready to believe THAT over what is the truth ie they know how to make a show quickly is crazy. like are we gonna start accusing Abbott Elementary and all these network shows of using AI because they have new seasons every October

    6. If true, imagine taking all the good faith and popularity gained by making a good show and throwing it away to use AI

    7. This reads as fake, but even if it isn’t I will say as the number 1 professional AI hater: if they were using AI last season it was at a point in the creative process where it did not negatively impact the quality of the final product

    8. Noah Wyle was very famously on the picket line day in and day out for both the SAG and WGA strikes (of which AI usage was a major sticking point) so I’m not too sure this holds much water.

    9. This feels like a made up direct hit by the Crichton estate to stir up more drama. I really do not believe this is true.

    10. I think a lot of people are underestimating how much AI is used in the industry now…

Although a season a year was not that rare even like 6 years ago. They used to churn out shows as big as GOT every year.

    11. I know this is about The Pitt, but this really makes no sense. Why would yearly releases mean AI was somehow involved in the process? This used to be the norm.

If this is about the Pitt it’s going to run my whole fucking day.

    13. As a writer who has messed around with AI, let me just yell “BULLSHIT” from the highest heavens.

Despite what the tech weirdos would have you believe, AI does not actually make writing faster. The same way that vomiting pre-digested Big Macs onto a plate won’t make cooking a steak dinner faster.

The tech doesn’t work and the bubble is about to burst. This story is not true.

Are we sure this isn’t a pissed off Severance fan writing this? Seems to me The Pitt has a pretty normal schedule or what used to be the norm for most tv shows.

    15. This doesn’t make any sense whatsoever — the Pitt is run by a guy who wrote for several seasons of ER. If anyone knows how to run a tight ship, with a short hiatus between seasons, it’s someone who not only survived but thrived writing network TV in the era of 26-episode seasons. This post is the equivalent of someone trying to make a conspiracy out of water being wet.

    16. I remember when shows coming back for a new season the following year was the expectation and norm. Now it’s an AI scandal? If there was a show that used AI to “streamline the process” it’s And Just Like That. They killed off one character’s dad twice.

If this is The Pitt, best case scenario is it’s probably a medical AI or something. I can totally see that actually streamlining the process on getting medical info in good shape before actual physicians review. Accuracy is super important to this show runner.

My doctor and nurse friends all use AI to take notes / save time / have some back and forth about cases. This is like the one case where I do see AI being legitimately useful. It can’t replace the pros, but if it can help medical staff do their job better then why not
