Meghan Markle has been mocked by fans online after she appeared to flaunt a big tote with her royal initials in a new video she uploaded on social media. The Duchess of Sussex has had a busy few weeks, travelling from France to attend Paris Fashion Week, to New York City and then Washington DC.
On Wednesday, Meghan took to her official Instagram account to upload a new short reel about her latest visit to the US capital, where she spoke at a summit about her partnership with Netflix and her brand, As Ever. In the video, there were short clips of the Duchess attending Fortune’s Most Powerful Women summit and from her time travelling around Washington DC.
It also showed her inside the cockpit of a flight, presumably the one to or from Washington DC, sharing a glass of champagne with a friend, and a team member moving her suitcase around her hotel.
The video was set to Dolly Parton’s song 9 to 5 and captioned: “Love being surrounded by strong women supporting each other! Thanks to @fortunempw , my team, DC, and my sweet friends for the 24 hours of impact (and fun!).”
But fans noticed a key detail when it came to Meghan’s luggage, which, aside from her handbag and suitcase, included a large dark tote with the initials DS (Duchess of Sussex).
They expressed their views on the Duchess’s latest move and their comments were less than favourable.
One user wrote on X: “Please don’t tell me she had a bag made with the initials DS for Duchess of Sussex? Didn’t she say in the fortune monologue that she was ‘Recovering from her time in the institution’?”
Another one said: “So heinously tacky.” A third person commented: “Not even the real original royals have that LOL. It’s pathetic.”
A fourth one added: “HAHAHAH it looks so tacky lmfao!”
Meanwhile, another one said on Instagram: “Oh God that is cringe!”
Others appeared to like Meghan’s video, with one fan writing on Instagram: “Booked, unBothered and Busy!”
A second one chimed: “Beautiful Duchess of Sussex Meghan. Continue to shine bright like a diamond.”
